The system enters the armed stage automatically. To ensure the Kia Carnival is protected, always verify that all
doors, the hood, and the liftgate are securely closed and locked before leaving the vehicle.
To secure your Kia Carnival, park the vehicle in a safe location, stop the engine, and follow the steps below to arm
the theft-alarm system:
-
Ensure the engine is completely turned off.
-
Verify that all doors, the hood, and the power liftgate are fully closed and latched.
-
With the smart key in your possession, press the lock button located on the front outside door handle. Once the
system detects the command and confirms all entry points are secure, the hazard warning lights will flash, and
a chime will sound once to indicate the Kia Carnival is successfully armed. If any door, the liftgate, or the
hood remains open, the system will not arm, and there will be no visual or audible confirmation. Note that if
you lock the doors using a physical key, the doors will lock, but the hazard lights will not flash to confirm
arming.
-
Alternatively, you may lock the doors by pressing the lock button directly on your smart key fob. Upon
completion, the hazard warning lights will blink once and the chime will sound once, confirming that the
theft-alarm system for your Kia Carnival is now active.
NOTICE
The default behavior of the theft-alarm system can be customized or deactivated by an authorized Kia dealer. If you
prefer to change these settings, please consult your local Kia service center for assistance.
NOTICE
For the safety and comfort of all occupants, do not arm the system until every passenger has safely exited the Kia
Carnival. Arming the system while passengers are still inside may trigger the alarm unexpectedly when they attempt to
exit later. Additionally, if any door, the liftgate, or the hood is opened within 30 seconds of the system entering
the armed stage, the system will automatically disarm itself to prevent a false alarm trigger.
