If an emergency situation arises while you are driving your Kia Carnival, maintain your composure and follow these
established safety procedures.
If the vehicle stalls while driving
- Gradually reduce your vehicle speed, ensuring you maintain a straight steering line.
- Carefully steer the vehicle off the main road to a secure, safe location.
- Immediately activate your Kia Carnival hazard warning flashers to alert other motorists.
- Attempt to restart the engine. If the Kia Carnival does not restart, contact an authorized Kia dealer or a
professional roadside assistance service for further help.
If the engine stalls at a crossroad or crossing
- If the engine stalls while within a crossroad or intersection, shift the transmission lever into the N (Neutral)
position and, if it can be done safely without risking personal injury, push the Kia Carnival to a safe area away
from traffic.
If you have a flat tire while driving
- Lift your foot off the accelerator pedal and allow the Kia Carnival to lose speed naturally while maintaining a
straight trajectory. Avoid slamming on the brakes or aggressively steering, as these actions can cause a sudden
loss of vehicle control.
- Once the vehicle has slowed to a safe speed, apply the brakes gently and pull off the roadway.
- Steer the Kia Carnival as far off the road as possible, ensuring you park on firm, level ground. If you are
traveling on a divided highway, avoid parking in the median strip between opposing traffic lanes unless it is
absolutely unavoidable.
- Once the vehicle is stationary, engage your emergency hazard flashers, set the parking brake firmly, and shift
the transmission into the P (Park) position.
- Ensure all passengers exit the Kia Carnival safely. It is imperative that all occupants exit through doors
located away from the flow of traffic.
- When you are ready to address the flat tire, refer to the detailed instructions provided later in this section of
the owner's manual.
