Kia Carnival: Steering wheel / Tilt and telescopic steering wheel

The Kia Carnival features an adjustable tilt and telescopic steering wheel, allowing you to customize the driving position for maximum comfort and ergonomic support. This adjustment is essential not only for your preferred driving posture but also to ensure that the steering wheel is positioned so that it does not obscure your view of the instrument panel, warning lights, or essential vehicle gauges.

Additionally, the ability to raise the steering wheel provides extra legroom, facilitating easier entry and exit from the Kia Carnival cabin.

Steering wheel adjustment: Never attempt to adjust the angle or height of the steering wheel while the vehicle is in motion. Doing so is extremely dangerous and could lead to a loss of steering control and a potential accident.

  1. Stop the Kia Carnival completely and ensure the vehicle is in Park (P).

  2. Pull down the lock release lever (1) located under the steering column to disengage the locking mechanism.

  3. Adjust the steering wheel to your desired angle (2) and distance (3). For optimal safety and comfort, the steering wheel should be directed toward your chest, not your face. Verify that you have a clear, unobstructed view of all instrument panel gauges and warning lights.

  4. Pull the lock release lever back up firmly to lock the steering wheel into the chosen position.

  5. Push the steering wheel up and down to confirm it is securely locked before you begin driving the Kia Carnival.

If the lock-release lever does not engage immediately after adjustment, this is not a malfunction. It is likely that the internal gears are not perfectly aligned. Simply adjust the steering wheel position slightly and attempt to engage the lock again.
