While the Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC) system in your Kia Carnival is a sophisticated feature
designed to enhance driving comfort, its performance is contingent upon the accuracy of the vehicle's navigation and
GPS data. The NSCC may not operate as expected or may become temporarily unavailable under the following
circumstances:
-
System Status: The navigation system is experiencing a technical malfunction, is currently
undergoing a software update, or is in the process of restarting while you are driving.
-
Data Connectivity: Map information fails to transmit due to an abnormality in the Kia Carnival
infotainment system, or if the navigation system is still calculating a route.
-
GPS & Positioning Errors: GPS signals are obstructed (e.g., in tunnels or under dense tree
canopies), or if the system cannot precisely determine the vehicle's position, such as when driving on elevated
roads adjacent to general parallel roads.
-
Map Discrepancies: The actual road layout differs from the map data due to real-time errors,
or you are driving on a road under active construction that is not yet reflected in the system's database.
-
Operating Environment: The vehicle is entering a service station, rest area, or traveling
through controlled/restricted road sections. Additionally, the presence of active Android Auto or Apple CarPlay
sessions may impact the navigation system's ability to provide data to the NSCC.
-
Road & Weather Conditions: Extreme weather (heavy rain, snow, or fog) can reduce sensor
performance, while sharply curved roads or sections where speed limits change abruptly can challenge the
system's prediction capabilities.

Route Discrepancies: If there is a mismatch between the navigation's pre-set route (branch
line) and the actual road you are currently driving on (main road), the "Highway Curve Zone Auto Slowdown"
function may remain inactive until the Kia Carnival successfully re-recognizes your path as a main highway
route.
-
Operational Logic: Once the system identifies that you are maintaining the main road—despite
the navigation's original route instructions—the Highway Curve Zone Auto Slowdown will engage. Please note that
depending on your current speed and the remaining distance to the curve, the Kia Carnival may decelerate more
rapidly or less intensely than you might expect; always be prepared to apply the brakes manually to ensure a
smooth transition through the curve.

If your Kia Carnival detects a difference between the route planned by the navigation system (main road) and
your actual driving path (branch line), the "Highway Curve Zone Auto Slowdown" function may still activate
temporarily. This occurs because the system utilizes curve geometry data associated with the main road to
ensure safety during the transition.
-
In instances where the vehicle determines you are actively departing from the highway by entering an
interchange or junction, the Highway Curve Zone Auto Slowdown function will be automatically suppressed and
will not operate.

-
If you have not programmed a specific destination into the Kia Carnival navigation system, the Highway Curve
Zone Auto Slowdown function will still actively monitor and operate based on the curve data available for the
main highway road you are currently traveling on.
-
Please note that even if you begin to depart from the main road, the function might still trigger momentarily
due to residual navigation data regarding the proximity of highway curve segments.
WARNING
-
The Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC) in your Kia Carnival is provided strictly as a convenience
feature and is not a replacement for attentive, responsible driving. The driver must always remain focused on
the road, monitor the surrounding environment, and adhere strictly to all local traffic laws.
-
Navigation system data regarding speed limits may occasionally deviate from physical road signs. It is your
ultimate responsibility as the Kia Carnival operator to observe and obey the posted speed limits on the
specific road or lane you are occupying.
-
The NSCC system will be automatically deactivated once the Kia Carnival exits the main highway road. You must
remain vigilant of changing road conditions during this transition.
-
System performance may be influenced by the presence and behavior of lead vehicles. Because the Kia Carnival
sensors adjust based on the distance and speed of vehicles ahead, you must always be prepared to take manual
control of the steering, braking, or acceleration if the situation requires it.
-
Always maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. The system's ability to maintain a comfortable gap can be
affected by rapid traffic flow changes; staying alert is essential for your safety and the safety of other road
users.
When towing a trailer, boat, or other heavy cargo with your Kia Carnival, be aware that the vehicle's deceleration
capability may be reduced. In these situations, the weight and dynamics of the trailer can affect system
performance; therefore, always exercise extra caution and maintain manual control over your braking distance.
After navigating through a highway tollgate, the Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control system primarily aligns its
operation with the first (far-left) lane. If you choose to enter or exit via a different lane, the Kia Carnival
NSCC may not accurately detect the path or operate as intended.
If you depress the accelerator pedal while the Kia Carnival Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control is active, the
vehicle will accelerate. Please note that the system will not perform autonomous deceleration during this manual
override. Furthermore, if the accelerator pedal is pressed too lightly, the Kia Carnival may perceive the input as
insufficient and trigger its own deceleration to maintain target parameters.
If you manually accelerate and then abruptly release the pedal while the system is engaged, the Kia Carnival may
not decelerate smoothly; instead, it might attempt to return to a safe speed rapidly, which can result in sudden
deceleration.
If a highway curve is either too extreme or too subtle for the navigation database's criteria, the
Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control may not engage its curve-slowdown feature.
The Kia Carnival Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control is intended as a supplemental convenience tool and is not a
substitute for attentive driving. It remains the driver's full responsibility to constantly monitor speed, assess
traffic flow, and maintain a safe following distance. Always prioritize safe driving habits and remain vigilant
behind the wheel of your Kia Carnival.
NOTICE
-
There may be a slight time lag between the navigation system's visual guidance and the actual activation or
deactivation of the Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control function in your Kia Carnival.
-
Discrepancies may occasionally occur between the speed limit information displayed on your instrument cluster
and the data shown on the infotainment navigation screen.
-
Be aware that even when driving below your set cruise speed, the Kia Carnival may limit acceleration if the
navigation system detects an upcoming curved road section that requires a speed adjustment.
-
If the Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control is active while you transition from a main highway onto an
interchange, junction, or into a rest area, the function may continue to operate for a short duration before
disengaging.
-
You might perceive that the deceleration provided by the NSCC is insufficient due to external factors such as
poor road surfaces, uneven pavement, or narrow lane configurations. In such cases, always be ready to apply the
brakes manually to ensure the safety of your Kia Carnival.
