To ensure the safety of all occupants, please adhere strictly to the following precautions when using the seat belt
systems in your Kia Carnival.
Infant or small child
Safety regulations regarding child restraints vary by region; please ensure you are fully compliant with local laws.
For the highest level of protection, all infant and child seats must be correctly positioned and installed
exclusively in the rear seating rows of your Kia Carnival. For comprehensive installation instructions and
compatibility guidance, please refer to the dedicated "Child Safety" section in your owner's manual.
NOTICE
Small children receive the most effective protection in an accident when securely restrained in the rear seat using a
Child Restraint System (CRS) that meets relevant safety standards (such as FMVSS 213 in the U.S.). When selecting a
restraint system for your Kia Carnival, always verify the certification label and ensure the device is perfectly
suited to your child's current height and weight. For further details on choosing the correct seat, please consult
the "More Details" chapter of your vehicle documentation.
Larger children
Once children have outgrown the need for a dedicated Child Restraint System, they should continue to occupy the rear
seats of the Kia Carnival and utilize the standard lap/shoulder belt assemblies. Always ensure the lap portion is
buckled snugly and positioned as low as possible across the child's hips, rather than their abdomen. Periodically
monitor the belt's position, as a child’s natural movement can sometimes cause the belt to shift.
Children are statistically safest when restrained in the rear seat. In circumstances where a child aged 13 or older
must occupy the front seat, ensure they are properly restrained by the lap/shoulder belt and that the seat is
adjusted to its rearmost position to maximize distance from the airbag. NEVER place a child under
the age of 13 in the front passenger seat of your Kia Carnival. Furthermore, NEVER install a
rear-facing child seat in the front seat, as the airbag deployment could cause fatal injuries.
If the shoulder belt in your Kia Carnival tends to touch or cross the child's neck or face, try repositioning the
child slightly toward the center of the seat. If the belt continues to contact the neck or face area, the child
requires a booster seat or a continued Child Restraint System to ensure the belt geometry is safe.
WARNING: Small children
Never allow small children to ride in your Kia Carnival without an appropriate Child Restraint System. If the
shoulder belt webbing comes into contact with your child's neck or face, the child is not yet ready for a standard
seat belt. In the event of a crash, an incorrectly positioned belt can inflict severe injuries to the child’s neck,
throat, and facial structures. Always prioritize proper height-appropriate restraint systems to keep your young
passengers safe during every journey.
Restraint of pregnant women
Pregnant women should utilize the 3-point lap/shoulder belt assemblies in their Kia Carnival whenever they are
traveling, strictly following any specific medical advice provided by their obstetrician. The lap portion of the belt
must always be worn AS SECURELY AND AS LOW AS POSSIBLE across the hips, underneath the curve of the abdomen, to avoid
unnecessary pressure.
WARNING: Pregnant women
Expectant mothers must never position the lap portion of the Kia Carnival seat belt across or above the abdomen.
Placing the belt over the belly puts the fetus at direct risk; in the event of a collision, the force exerted by the
seat belt could result in serious injury or fatal consequences for the fetus. Always ensure the lap belt remains flat
against the pelvic bones.
Injured person
If it is necessary to transport an injured person in your Kia Carnival, a seat belt should still be used to prevent
further harm during transit. In such scenarios, we strongly recommend consulting a physician or emergency medical
professional for specific positioning recommendations based on the nature of the injury.
One person per belt
A single seat belt is designed to protect only one individual at a time. Two people—including a parent and a
child—should never attempt to share or "piggyback" on a single seat belt. Sharing a belt dramatically increases the
risk of both individuals striking each other or the vehicle interior during an accident, leading to more severe
injuries.
Do not lie down
To ensure the maximum effectiveness of the Kia Carnival restraint systems, all passengers must remain in an upright,
seated position while the vehicle is in motion. A seat belt cannot provide adequate protection if a passenger is
lying down or if the seatback is reclined significantly. For your safety, please keep front and rear seats in an
upright, locked position throughout the entire trip.
