Front wiper blade replacement

Accessing the Kia Carnival wiper service position

For your convenience and to protect your hood's paint finish, your Kia Carnival features a "service position." To activate this, turn off the engine, then move the wiper switch to the MIST position within 20 seconds. Hold the switch for more than 2 seconds until the blades stop in their fully upright position.

  • Never allow the wiper arm to snap back against the windshield without a blade attached; the impact can easily chip or crack the glass.

  • Avoid pulling the wiper arm forward if it is not in the service position, as it may strike the edge of your Kia Carnival hood and chip the paint.

Type A

  1. Carefully raise the wiper arm away from the windshield and rotate the Kia Carnival wiper blade assembly to expose the plastic locking clip.

Avoid applying excessive force to the wiper arm while removing the blade, as this may damage the center mounting point.

Caution icon for Kia Carnival wiper protection system CAUTION

  • If the wipers do not operate for approximately 10 seconds (e.g., when trying to clear frozen glass), this is not a malfunction. It is the Kia Carnival wiper protection system, which temporarily disables the circuit to prevent motor overload.

  • Clean your windshield regularly with a hose and a soft towel. Always wipe the rubber blades clean with a damp cloth if they have been exposed to grease or car wash wax to ensure the Kia Carnival wipers maintain a streak-free performance.
