Press the physical Parking Safety (
) button to manually turn on the Forward/Side/Reverse Parking Distance Warning
for your Kia Carnival. Press the button again to manually deactivate the function.
-
When the gear shift is moved into the R (Reverse) position, the Parking Distance Warning system will
automatically activate, and the Parking Safety button indicator light will turn on to confirm the system is
active.
Forward Parking Distance Warning
The Forward Parking Distance Warning system integrated into your Kia Carnival is designed to provide proactive
alerts, activating automatically when any of the following operational conditions are met:
-
The transmission gear is transitioned from R (Reverse) to D (Drive) while the Reverse Parking Distance Warning
system is currently active.
-
The Kia Carnival is in D (Drive) and the Parking Safety (
) button indicator light is illuminated.
-
The Forward Parking Distance Warning system provides driver alerts while the Kia Carnival is in D (Drive),
provided the "Parking Distance Warning Auto On" feature is enabled via the infotainment menu (Navigate to:
Setup → Vehicle → Driver Assistance → Parking Safety → Parking Distance Warning Auto On).
NOTICE
-
The Forward Parking Distance Warning feature in your Kia Carnival functions optimally when the vehicle speed is
maintained below 6 mph (10 km/h).
-
When the gear is engaged in R (Reverse), the front sensors operate with restricted scope to prevent unnecessary
alerts; the system will only trigger warnings for objects positioned within 24 inches (60 cm) directly in front
of your Kia Carnival.
-
If the "Parking Distance Warning Auto On" setting is disabled, the Forward Parking Distance Warning function
will automatically deactivate (signaled by the button indicator light turning off) once the Kia Carnival
exceeds a speed of 18 mph (30 km/h). Please be aware that if you subsequently slow down below 6 mph (10 km/h),
the system will not reactivate automatically; it must be toggled on manually if needed.

The system displays the appropriate visual indicator whenever any ultrasonic sensor on your Kia Carnival
detects a person, animal, or object within its sensing range, accompanied by an audible warning.
-
If the system detects more than two objects simultaneously, it intelligently prioritizes the closest object to
issue the warning.
-
Please note that for objects located at a distance greater than 24 inches (60 cm), the Kia Carnival instrument
cluster will not display a proximity indicator.
-
The visual shape and design of the indicators shown in this illustration may differ slightly from the actual
graphic interface displayed in your Kia Carnival.
Side Parking Distance Warning
The Side Parking Distance Warning function for your Kia Carnival is engineered to provide additional awareness and
will operate when any of the following criteria are met:
-
The gear selector is moved to the R (Reverse) position.
-
The vehicle is in D (Drive) and the Parking Safety (
) button indicator light is active.
-
The system provides alerts while the Kia Carnival is in D (Drive) if the "Parking Distance Warning Auto On"
function has been selected within the infotainment settings.
-
Your current driving speed is 6 mph (10 km/h) or less.
NOTICE
-
The Side Parking Distance Warning feature in the Kia Carnival is exclusively active when the vehicle speed is
maintained below 6 mph (10 km/h).
-
For the Side Parking Distance Warning function to be active, the primary Forward/Reverse Parking Distance
Warning system must also be switched on in your Kia Carnival.

When the side ultrasonic sensors detect a person or object, the Kia Carnival displays specific indicator lights
corresponding to the detected distance on both the instrument cluster and the infotainment system screen.
-
An audible warning tone is triggered exclusively when an object is detected within 12 inches (30 cm) of the
side, indicating it is within the Kia Carnival vehicle's immediate exit or turning path.
-
If the sensors detect an object to the side that is outside of the vehicle's projected exit path, the system
will provide a visual indicator only, without an accompanying audible alarm.
-
While driving in D (Drive), side-way warnings are not displayed on the instrument cluster if the distance to
the object is 12 inches (30 cm) or greater.
-
Please note that the visual appearance and shape of these indicators in the manual may vary slightly from the
actual graphic interface displayed in your Kia Carnival.
Reverse Parking Distance Warning

The corresponding warning indicator is displayed as soon as any ultrasonic sensor on your Kia Carnival detects
a person, animal, or object within its operating range, accompanied by an audible warning signal.
-
In the event that more than two objects are detected simultaneously, the system will prioritize the closest
object and provide the appropriate audible warning to the driver.

those presented in your actual Kia Carnival vehicle.
