Kia Carnival: Seat / Front seat adjustment for manual seat (if equipped)

Kia Carnival (KA4) 2022-2026 Owner's Manual / Safety features of your Kia / Seat / Front seat adjustment for manual seat (if equipped)

The front seats in your Kia Carnival can be effortlessly adjusted using the mechanical control levers conveniently located on the outboard side of the seat cushion.

Moving forward and backward

Always perform seat adjustments before you begin driving. After moving the seat to your preferred position, verify that it is locked securely by attempting to slide it forward and backward without using the lever. If any movement occurs, the seat is not fully locked.

To move the seat forward or backward:

  1. Pull the seat slide adjustment lever upward and hold it in that position.

  2. Slide the seat smoothly to your desired position.

  3. Release the lever and perform a physical check to ensure the Kia Carnival seat is locked firmly into the floor track.

Reclining seatback

To recline the seatback:

  1. Lean your body weight forward slightly and lift the seatback recline lever upward.

  2. Carefully lean backward, using your back to push the seatback into your desired angle.

  3. Release the lever and confirm the seatback is locked in place. The lever MUST return to its fully seated, original position for the locking mechanism to engage successfully.

Maintaining a reclined position while the Kia Carnival is in motion is extremely dangerous. Even when your seat belt is fastened, the protective efficacy of your restraint systems—including seat belts and air bags—is significantly compromised if the seatback is tilted beyond an upright position.

For maximum safety, seat belts must remain snug across your hips and chest. When the seatback is reclined, the shoulder belt may no longer sit correctly against your body, increasing the risk of it slipping or failing to provide protection. In the event of a collision, this misalignment can lead to the occupant sliding under the lap belt or suffering severe neck injuries due to contact with the improperly positioned shoulder belt.

Changing seat cushion height (for driver's seat)

To customize the seating position for optimal visibility and comfort in your Kia Carnival, use the manual height adjustment lever.

  • To lower the seat cushion, push the lever downward repeatedly until the desired height is achieved.

  • To raise the seat cushion, pull the lever upward repeatedly until you reach your preferred seating level.
