WARNING: Loose objects

Never store loose objects in the driver's footwell. Items such as water bottles or loose gear can slide under the brake or accelerator pedals, potentially obstructing their operation and causing a loss of vehicle control. Always keep the Kia Carnival floor area clear.

WARNING: Uprighting seat

When adjusting a manual seatback, always hold the seatback firmly before releasing the lever. Failure to control the movement may cause the seatback to spring forward rapidly, posing a risk of impact or injury to you or nearby passengers.

WARNING: Driver responsibility for passengers

Illustration demonstrating the correct upright seating position for Kia Carnival passengers during vehicle operation

The driver of the Kia Carnival is responsible for ensuring all passengers maintain an upright seating position while the vehicle is in motion. Reclining the seatback beyond necessary limits during travel can significantly reduce the effectiveness of the seat belt and air bag restraint systems in the event of an accident.

Warning regarding the use of aftermarket seat cushions and their impact on occupant safety systems

WARNING: Seat cushion

Do not use aftermarket seat pads or cushions. These accessories can interfere with the Occupant Detection System (ODS), causing sensors to fail, or they may cause an occupant's body to slide beneath the seat belt's lap portion during an emergency stop or collision, leading to severe injury.

Driver's seat

  • Never attempt to adjust the driver's seat while your Kia Carnival is in motion. Making manual or power adjustments while driving could cause the seat to shift unexpectedly, leading to a loss of vehicle control.

  • Ensure that no items interfere with the normal position of the seatback. Storing heavy or rigid objects against the seatback is dangerous, as they could be propelled forward during a sudden stop or collision, resulting in serious or fatal injuries to occupants.

  • For your safety, sit as far back from the steering wheel as possible while still maintaining full, comfortable control of your Kia Carnival. We recommend maintaining a distance of at least 10 inches (25 cm) between your chest and the steering wheel hub. Maintaining this distance is critical to reduce the risk of injury during air bag inflation.

Rear seatbacks

Always ensure that all rear seatbacks are securely locked into the upright position before operating your Kia Carnival. If a seatback is left unlocked, passengers or heavy items in the cargo area could be thrown forward during sudden deceleration, causing significant injury to other occupants.

Unexpected seat movement

After performing a manual seat adjustment, always verify that the seat is firmly locked in position by shifting your body weight forward and backward. Sudden or unexpected movement of the driver's seat can cause a dangerous loss of focus and control over your Kia Carnival.

Seat adjustment

  • Do not adjust your seat while wearing fastened seat belts. Moving the seat forward aggressively may cause the seat belt to exert excessive, uncomfortable, and potentially harmful pressure on your abdomen.

  • Keep your hands and fingers clear of the seat base and tracks during adjustment. The complex mechanical components under your Kia Carnival seats can easily pinch or cause injury to your hands if they are placed in the path of the seat mechanism.

Luggage and cargo

Never stack luggage or cargo higher than the top of the seatbacks in the cargo area. In the event of an accident or sudden maneuver, unsecured cargo could strike and injure passengers. Large or heavy objects must always be properly secured in the rear cargo compartment of your Kia Carnival.

Cargo area

Under no circumstances should you allow passengers to ride in the cargo area. The cargo space in your Kia Carnival is designed exclusively for transporting luggage and equipment, not for human occupancy.

Small objects

Exercise caution when attempting to retrieve small objects trapped under the seats or between the seat cushion and the center console. Use an appropriate tool if necessary, as the exposed metal edges of the seat adjustment mechanisms can cause painful cuts or abrasions to your hands.

Precautions with seat covers

Use extreme caution if you are installing or servicing seat covers. Improper handling of the electrical components under the seat can cause a short circuit or accidental disconnection, which may interfere with seat sensors and permanently damage the climate-controlled ventilation system.

Seat short circuit risk

Be aware of the location of sensitive electrical wiring and integrated air vents before installing any seat covers or protective plastic films. Covering these components incorrectly can result in a short circuit, which presents a genuine risk of fire within the cabin of your Kia Carnival.

Features of Seat Leather (if equipped)

  • The interior of your Kia Carnival is meticulously crafted using a premium combination of high-quality artificial and genuine leather. Genuine leather is a natural material derived from high-grade animal hide, subjected to a specialized tanning process to ensure durability and aesthetic appeal. Because it is a natural substance, you may notice subtle variations in thickness, grain, or density across different sections of the seat. These characteristics are hallmarks of authentic leather and do not indicate a defect.

  • It is normal for minor wrinkles to appear on the surface. These are a natural result of the leather stretching and shrinking in response to ambient changes in temperature and interior humidity within your Kia Carnival cabin.

  • The seat covers are engineered using high-grade, stretchable materials specifically chosen to enhance passenger comfort and ensure a long-lasting, contoured fit.

  • The seat design incorporates curved sections in areas contacting the body, while the side bolsters are elevated to provide exceptional stability and support, significantly improving driving comfort during long journeys in your Kia Carnival.

  • To preserve the leather quality, avoid contact with sharp objects. Belts with metallic hardware, heavy zippers, or keys kept in back pockets can cause permanent scratches or tears in the Kia Carnival seat material.

  • Ensure that the seats remain dry. Excessive moisture can penetrate the surface and alter the natural texture or color of the leather.

  • Be mindful of clothing choices. Raw denim (jeans) or garments with unstable dyes can transfer pigment onto the seat surface, causing staining that may be difficult to remove.

Please note that natural wrinkles, minor abrasions, or changes in texture occurring from standard daily usage are expected characteristics of leather materials. These are not considered product faults and are not covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
