When the TPMS warning indicators illuminate on your dashboard, it serves as a critical alert that one or more of your
tires on the Kia Carnival are significantly under-inflated.
A: Low tire pressure indicator
If this telltale appears while you are driving your Kia Carnival, you should immediately reduce your speed, avoid
aggressive cornering, and allow for increased stopping distances. For your safety, locate a secure area to stop and
inspect all four tires as soon as possible.
Inflate the tires to the exact pressure specifications listed on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure
label, which is conveniently located on the driver's side center pillar outer panel of your Kia Carnival. If you are
unable to reach a service station or if a tire fails to hold the newly added air, you must replace the affected tire
with the spare tire to continue your journey safely.
Please note that if you have installed a spare tire, the TPMS malfunction indicator and the Low Tire Pressure
telltale may remain illuminated or appear after you restart the vehicle and drive for approximately 20 minutes. This
will persist until the original low-pressure tire is properly repaired and re-installed on your Kia Carnival.
During winter months or periods of sudden temperature drops, you may find that the low tire pressure telltale
illuminates even if the tires were properly inflated during warmer weather. This is not a sign of a TPMS malfunction;
rather, it is a physical reaction where decreased ambient temperatures lead to a proportional drop in internal tire
pressure.
To maintain peak performance, you should regularly verify tire pressure and adjust it to the manufacturer’s
recommended levels when operating your Kia Carnival under the following environmental conditions:
-
Traveling from a warm climate to a significantly colder region.
-
Traveling from a cold climate to a warmer region.
-
When the external ambient temperature is consistently and extremely high or low.
When inflating your tires, please be aware that the low tire pressure telltale may not extinguish immediately. This
is often because portable tire inflators can have a margin of error in their pressure accuracy. The telltale will
typically turn off automatically once the internal sensor confirms that the tire pressure has reached or slightly
exceeded the recommended inflation threshold for your Kia Carnival.
WARNING
Dangers of low-pressure driving:
Do not attempt to drive your Kia Carnival on tires with low pressure. Operating the vehicle with significantly
under-inflated tires causes extreme internal heat buildup, which can lead to catastrophic tire failure. This creates
dangerous handling instability, increases your braking distances significantly, and may result in a complete loss of
vehicle control.
