Your Kia Carnival is equipped with both driver-side and passenger-side outside rearview mirrors,
essential for maintaining comprehensive awareness of the surrounding traffic environment. Please ensure all mirror
angles are correctly calibrated to your driving position before you begin operating the vehicle.
Depending on your specific Kia Carnival trim level, these mirrors can be adjusted remotely using
control levers or an electronic switch. Additionally, the mirror heads feature a folding mechanism designed to
prevent accidental damage when navigating narrow streets or utilizing automatic car washes.
NOTICE
Safety Considerations for Rear View Mirrors:
-
The mirror on the passenger side is convex. Please be aware that objects viewed in this mirror appear smaller
and farther away than they actually are.
-
Always verify the proximity of vehicles in adjacent lanes by using your interior rearview mirror or by
performing a physical shoulder check before initiating a lane change in your Kia Carnival.
CAUTION
Never scrape ice directly off the mirror surface, as this will result in permanent scratches and damage to the glass
coating.
CAUTION
If the mirror folding mechanism is frozen shut, do not attempt to force it. Apply an approved automotive spray
de-icer—never use radiator antifreeze—or relocate the Kia Carnival to a warmer environment to allow
the ice to melt naturally.
WARNING
Safety Warning: Never attempt to adjust or fold your outside rearview mirrors while the vehicle is
in motion. Uncontrolled adjustments can distract the driver and lead to a loss of vehicle control, potentially
resulting in a serious accident, property damage, or physical injury.
Adjusting the outside rear view mirrors
The electric remote control switch provides precise positioning for the Kia Carnival exterior
mirrors.
To adjust your mirrors:
-
Use the R/L selector switch (1) to choose the mirror you wish to adjust.
-
Press the corresponding direction on the adjustment control pad (2) to tilt the mirror surface up, down, left,
or right.
CAUTION
-
The adjustment motors are designed to stop automatically at maximum travel; however, holding the switch down
continuously after the limit is reached can cause motor fatigue or damage. Avoid pressing the switch longer
than necessary.
-
Never attempt to manually adjust or force an electric-type mirror; always use the provided electric controls to
prevent internal gear damage.
Folding the outside rear view mirror
Manual type
To manually fold the mirror, firmly grasp the outer housing and pull it toward the rear of the Kia
Carnival until it locks into the folded position.
Electric type
For convenience, your Kia Carnival may be equipped with power-folding mirrors.
CAUTION
Electric mirrors can be operated even when the ignition is OFF. To avoid unnecessary battery drain in your
Kia Carnival, refrain from cycling the folding mechanism repeatedly while the engine is not running.
CAUTION
Do not attempt to fold electric-type mirrors by hand, as this will damage the internal motor assembly and the drive
gears.
Reverse parking aid function
To assist with safer parking maneuvers, your Kia Carnival features an automatic reverse tilt
function. When the transmission is shifted into R (Reverse), the outside rearview mirrors will automatically rotate
downwards, providing a better view of the curb or ground markings.
The activation of this feature is controlled by the mirror selection switch (1):
-
Active: When the switch is set to either the L (Left) or R (Right) position, the reverse tilt
function is active, and the mirrors will move accordingly.
-
Inactive: When the switch is in the center (Neutral) position, the reverse tilt function is
disabled, and the mirrors will remain in their standard driving position.
The outside mirrors will automatically return to their original driving position under the following conditions:
-
The Kia Carnival ENGINE START/STOP button is switched to LOCK/OFF or ACC mode.
-
The gear selector is moved out of the R (Reverse) position.
-
The mirror control switch is returned to the Neutral (center) position.
Auto reverse user settings
If the factory-default tilt angles do not provide the visibility you require, you can easily customize and store your
preferred mirror positions for your Kia Carnival:
-
Ensure the vehicle is in P (Park).
-
Set the mirror selector switch to the L or R position for the mirror you wish to configure.
-
Depress the brake pedal and shift the gear into R (Reverse) while maintaining pressure on the brake.
-
Once the mirror completes its automatic downward movement, use the directional adjustment switches (â–¼, â–², â—€, â–¶)
to set the mirror to your preferred angle.
-
To save your custom angle, shift the gear out of R (Reverse) or return the selector switch to the Neutral
position. The new position is now stored in the Kia Carnival system memory.
-
Repeat these steps for the opposite mirror if necessary.
How to reset auto reverse user settings
Should you wish to revert the mirror tilt angles to the original factory settings, perform the following
initialization procedure:
-
Place the vehicle in P (Park).
-
Select the L or R mirror switch to target the mirror you want to reset.
-
Depress the brake pedal and shift into R (Reverse).
-
Once the mirror tilts down, manually press the â–² (Up) switch to position the mirror glass higher than its
current default driving position.
-
Shift to any gear other than R (Reverse) or move the selector switch to the Neutral position. The factory
default settings will be restored for future operations.
-
Follow the same process to initialize the other mirror.
CAUTION
Precision is key: please follow these steps in the exact order specified. If a step is skipped or performed out of
sequence, the mirror may fail to store the new angle or the initialization may not execute correctly. Taking your
time ensures the Kia Carnival reverse parking system functions exactly as intended.
