The Safe Exit Assist (SEA) system in your Kia Carnival provides proactive warnings and vehicle control actions under
the following scenarios:
A: Collision Warning
When the system detects a potential risk, the warning indicator integrated into your Kia Carnival side-view mirror
will blink, a warning message will appear on the instrument cluster, and an audible alert will sound to inform
passengers that it is currently unsafe to exit.
A: Check traffic in the blind spot, then try again
If a passenger attempts to open the power sliding door while the Electronic Child Safety Lock is engaged and an
approaching vehicle is detected, the side-view mirror warning light will blink, and a warning message will appear on
your Kia Carnival cluster to prevent the door from unlocking.
NOTICE
For additional details regarding the operation of the power sliding door buttons on your Kia Carnival, please consult
the "More Details" section of the owner's manual.
WARNING
If you press the power sliding door button a second time within a 10-second window, the Kia Carnival system assumes
the driver has manually verified the surroundings and overrides the safety lock, causing the door to open regardless
of approaching traffic. Always visually ensure the area around your Kia Carnival is clear before forcing a door open.
NOTICE
If a rear door is opened manually from the exterior of the Kia Carnival, it will open immediately, bypassing the Safe
Exit Assist active safety protocols.
WARNING
-
Only adjust your Kia Carnival system settings while parked in a safe, stationary location.
-
If other vehicle systems (such as parking sensors) are generating concurrent warnings, the Safe Exit Assist
alerts may be suppressed or go unnoticed.
-
High ambient noise levels may mask the audible chime; never rely solely on the sound.
-
Safe Exit Assist is an auxiliary safety feature and cannot prevent all types of collisions or detect every
possible hazard.
-
Performance depends on specific road and traffic conditions. You are responsible for verifying that your Kia
Carnival surroundings are safe.
-
Occupants and drivers are legally responsible for exiting the vehicle safely; always perform a manual shoulder
check before opening any door.
-
Never attempt to deliberately trigger or test the Safe Exit Assist system, as this could lead to serious injury
or vehicle damage.
NOTICE
-
After the Kia Carnival ignition is turned off, the system remains in standby mode for approximately 3 minutes
to monitor safety, unless the doors are locked, which immediately disables the feature.
-
Alert colors and graphic representations may vary depending on the display theme or cluster configuration
selected in your Kia Carnival settings menu.
