Kia Carnival: Power liftgate (if equipped) / Setting the power liftgate

You can customize the operation of your Kia Carnival power liftgate through the vehicle settings, choosing both the speed and the opening height that best suit your needs. You can easily enable or disable these preferences via the infotainment menu.

Power liftgate opening speed

To customize how quickly the liftgate opens, navigate to Setup → Vehicle → Door → Power Liftgate Opening Speed and toggle between 'Normal' or 'Fast'. The default factory setting is 'Fast'.

Power liftgate opening height (if equipped)

To prevent the liftgate from striking low garage ceilings, you can adjust the opening height in your Kia Carnival by selecting Setup → Vehicle → Door → Power Liftgate Opening Height. You may choose from 'Full Open', 'Level 3', 'Level 2', 'Level 1', or 'User Height Setting'. Please refer to your supplemental Infotainment Manual for further interface details.

User height setting

  1. Manually lift or lower the Kia Carnival liftgate to your desired preferred height.

  2. Press and hold the power liftgate open/close button (located on the underside of the liftgate) for more than 3 seconds. The system will chime to confirm the new height is saved. Once 'User Height Setting' is active, the liftgate will consistently open to this specific level.

Setting the custom opening height for the Kia Carnival power liftgate NOTICE

  • If a custom height has not been programmed, selecting 'User Height Setting' will result in the liftgate opening to its full extent by default.

  • If you switch between pre-set levels (Full/Levels 1-3) and 'User Height Setting', the system will prioritize and recall the specific height you manually saved previously.

  • Note that these settings are linked to your individual Kia Carnival User Profile. If you switch drivers and change the User Profile, the liftgate speed and height settings will automatically adjust to the preferences saved for that specific profile.

  • Software updates may occasionally change the infotainment layout. Always consult the digital owner's manual within your system or the printed quick reference guide for the latest operating instructions.
