A: Emergency Steering
When the advanced Emergency Steering system in your Kia Carnival detects a potential hazard, it immediately alerts
the driver. This warning sequence includes a flashing emergency steering warning light (
), a clear visual message on the instrument
cluster, an audible warning tone, and tactile steering wheel vibrations.
If there is an immediate risk of collision with a pedestrian, cyclist, or powered two-wheeler ahead, and the Kia
Carnival has already exceeded the threshold for standard emergency braking, this system can assist. It activates to
support the driver's steering inputs, helping to steer the vehicle safely around the object and prevent a collision.
The Emergency Steering feature of the Kia Carnival will be activated under the following conditions:
This system recognizes pedestrians or cyclists moving in either the same or the opposite direction as your Kia
Carnival. It is essential that there is sufficient road space available to perform an evasive maneuver. Please note
that this specific function may not operate effectively for pedestrians or cyclists who are moving perpendicularly or
horizontally across your path.
CAUTION
-
Be aware that the steering wheel of your Kia Carnival may rotate automatically while the emergency steering
system is actively assisting you.
-
The system will automatically cancel once the immediate risk factors have been resolved. The driver must always
remain ready to take full control and steer the vehicle if conditions require.
-
Emergency steering may not engage, or could be cancelled during operation, if the driver holds the steering
wheel too tightly or steers in the opposite direction of the system’s assist.
-
If the Evasive Steering Assist is helping to avoid a collision, the system may cancel if it detects a new
potential risk of collision with another object, such as a different vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist.
-
This assist feature may fail to operate if the Kia Carnival determines that there is insufficient space within
the driving lane to safely avoid the obstacle.
-
When driving your Kia Carnival at night, the system's ability to detect powered two-wheelers (such as
motorcycles or e-bikes) may be reduced due to lower light levels. Consequently, the Forward Collision-Avoidance
Assist (FCA) system may experience temporary performance limitations or may not trigger as expected.

WARNING
-
For your personal safety and the safety of others, always adjust your Kia Carnival system settings only after
parking the vehicle securely in a safe location.
-
It is important to understand that the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system is an aid and does not operate
in all driving scenarios; it cannot prevent every potential collision.
-
The driver remains fully responsible for the safe control of the vehicle at all times. Do not rely solely on
the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. Always maintain a safe following distance, and proactively depress the
brake pedal to reduce speed or stop your Kia Carnival if the situation requires it.
-
Never intentionally test or activate the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system using people, animals, or
objects. Such actions can lead to serious injury or fatal accidents.
-
Be aware that the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist might be suppressed or may not trigger if the driver is
already actively depressing the brake pedal to avoid an impact.
-
Depending on complex road geometry, weather, and specific driving conditions, the Forward Collision-Avoidance
Assist may occasionally be unable to issue a warning to the driver in a timely manner.
-
During an emergency intervention by the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, your Kia Carnival may brake
suddenly, which could cause injury to passengers or cause loose objects inside the cabin to shift. Always
ensure all occupants are wearing seat belts and that all loose items are properly secured.
-
If warning messages or audible alerts from other vehicle systems are currently active, the warning indicators
for the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist might not be displayed or heard, as other system notifications may
take priority.
-
Please note that you may not be able to hear the warning chime from the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist if
your surroundings are exceptionally noisy (e.g., loud road noise, music, or construction zones).
-
Please note that the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) in your Kia Carnival may deactivate, experience
operational interference, or trigger unnecessarily depending on specific road conditions, severe weather, or
complex environmental surroundings.
-
During an emergency braking event initiated by the FCA system, the automated braking control may automatically
cancel if the driver aggressively depresses the accelerator pedal or performs a sharp steering maneuver, as the
system interprets these actions as an intent to override.
CAUTION
-
External factors—such as the presence of pedestrians, cyclists, powered two-wheelers, or other vehicles
directly ahead of your Kia Carnival—can significantly influence the sensor detection range and speed
calculation, which may lead to the FCA system becoming temporarily limited or completely disabled.
-
The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist function operates by analyzing a complex set of variables, including the
status, trajectory, and speed of oncoming vehicles, cyclists, or motorcyclists, as well as the driving
direction and ambient environment, to accurately assess the level of collision risk.
-
The system's effectiveness may be limited or entirely deactivated in scenarios where the Kia Carnival is
traveling at excessively high speeds, or where there is a extreme speed differential between your vehicle and
oncoming powered two-wheelers or cyclists.
-
If the system determines that a collision is highly probable, advanced safety features like Lane-change
Oncoming, Lane-change Side, and Evasive Steering Assist are designed to provide a high-priority warning to the
driver to prompt immediate manual intervention.
NOTICE
-
In the event of an imminent collision, the Kia Carnival Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may provide
supplemental braking pressure if it detects that the driver's current manual braking input is insufficient to
mitigate the impact.

specifications of your Kia Carnival.
