In the event of a flat tire, you can safely replace the damaged wheel with the spare tire provided, utilizing the
tools included with your Kia Carnival.
WARNING
Driving on a flat tire will cause permanent, irreparable damage to the tire structure. Attempting to re-inflate a
tire that has been driven while severely underinflated or flat poses a significant risk of a blowout, which could
lead to a serious crash. Never attempt to re-inflate such a tire; instead, have the flat tire repaired or replaced by
a professional as soon as possible.
WARNING
Tire changing can be dangerous. Always strictly follow the safety instructions in this section to minimize the risk
of serious injury or death while servicing your Kia Carnival.
CAUTION
Exercise caution when using the jack handle. The handle end may have sharp edges that could cause cuts; handle it
carefully while operating the jack to lift your Kia Carnival.
Important - use of compact spare tire (if equipped)
Your Kia Carnival may be equipped with a compact spare tire designed specifically for emergency situations. This
compact spare tire is engineered to take up significantly less space in your cargo area than a standard-size tire.
Please be aware that this spare tire is smaller in diameter and width than your conventional tires and is strictly
intended for temporary, short-distance use only.
-
You should drive with extra caution and at reduced speeds whenever the compact spare is in use. The compact
spare should be removed and replaced by your original, full-size conventional tire and rim at the very first
opportunity.
-
For safety reasons, operating your Kia Carnival with more than one compact spare tire installed at the same
time is not recommended and should be avoided.
WARNING
Spare tire
The compact spare tire provided with your Kia Carnival is for emergency use only. Do not operate your vehicle on this
tire at speeds exceeding 50 mph (80 km/h). The original, damaged tire should be professionally repaired or replaced
as soon as possible to avoid the risk of spare tire failure, which could potentially lead to serious bodily injury or
death.
The compact spare tire must be inflated to a pressure of 60 psi (420 kPa) to function correctly.
NOTICE
Always verify the inflation pressure immediately after installing the spare tire. Adjust it to the specified 60 psi
(420 kPa) as necessary to ensure safe handling.
When using a compact spare tire on your Kia Carnival, please observe the following critical precautions:
-
Under no circumstances should you exceed a speed of 50 mph (80 km/h); exceeding this limit could cause the tire
structure to overheat and fail.
-
Ensure that you drive slowly and defensively, adapting to road conditions to avoid all hazards. Any significant
road hazard, such as a deep pothole or sharp debris, could cause catastrophic damage to the compact spare.
-
Any continuous, long-distance road use of this tire is dangerous and could result in tire failure, total loss
of vehicle control, and possible personal injury.
-
Do not exceed the maximum load rating of your Kia Carnival or the load-carrying capacity specifically indicated
on the sidewall of the compact spare tire.
-
Avoid driving over obstacles. The diameter of the compact spare tire is smaller than that of a conventional
tire, which reduces your Kia Carnival ground clearance by approximately 1 inch (25 mm). This reduction
increases the risk of damage to the vehicle's undercarriage.
-
Do not take your Kia Carnival through an automatic car wash while the compact spare tire is installed, as the
differing tire size may interfere with the wash equipment guide rails.
-
Do not attempt to use tire chains on the compact spare tire. Due to the smaller size of the spare, a standard
tire chain will not fit properly. This could damage the vehicle body and result in the loss of the chain while
driving.
-
Do not use the compact spare tire from your Kia Carnival on any other vehicle, as this tire is custom-designed
specifically for your vehicle's weight and handling characteristics.
-
The tread life of a compact spare tire is significantly shorter than that of a regular tire. Inspect your spare
tire regularly for signs of wear and replace it with a tire of the exact same size and design, mounted on the
original spare wheel.
-
The compact spare tire should not be used on any other rims. Conversely, do not use standard tires, snow tires,
hubcaps, or trim rings on the compact spare wheel. Attempting to mix these components may cause damage to the
spare wheel or other vehicle systems.
-
Do not use more than one compact spare tire at a time on your Kia Carnival.
-
Do not tow a trailer or caravan while the compact spare tire is installed on your Kia Carnival, as the
vehicle's towing stability and braking performance will be severely compromised.
