The immobilizer system is a sophisticated anti-theft feature designed to protect your Kia Carnival. By utilizing a
unique electronic code, the system verifies your smart key; if an improperly coded key or unauthorized electronic
device is detected, the vehicle's power and ignition systems are automatically disabled.
When you place the ENGINE START/STOP button into the ON position, the immobilizer system indicator should illuminate
briefly and then turn off, confirming a successful handshake. If the indicator begins to blink, it signifies that the
system does not recognize the key's coding.
If this occurs, place the ENGINE START/STOP button in the OFF position, wait a few seconds, and then return it to the
ON position to attempt a fresh verification. If the system repeatedly fails to recognize your key, please contact an
authorized Kia dealer for inspection.
Please refrain from attempting to alter this system or integrating third-party electronic devices into it. Any
unauthorized modifications may cause complex electrical conflicts that could render your Kia Carnival inoperable.
Deactivating the immobilizer system
Simply change the ENGINE START/STOP button to the ON position with a valid smart key present.
Activating the immobilizer system
The immobilizer system activates automatically the moment you change the ENGINE START/STOP button to the OFF
position. Without a valid, programmed smart key for your specific vehicle, the engine will remain immobilized and
will not start.
NOTICE
When starting your Kia Carnival, do not keep other immobilizer keys or signal-emitting devices in close proximity to
the smart key being used. Interference from other keys may prevent the vehicle from starting or cause the engine to
stall shortly after ignition. Always keep each key separate to ensure reliable performance.
NOTICE
Should you require additional smart keys or if you lose your current set, you must contact an authorized Kia dealer
to ensure keys are registered correctly to your vehicle’s security database.
