A: Check Driver Assistance system.
Should the Intelligent Speed Limit Assist system experience a technical fault, a warning message will be displayed on
the Kia Carnival instrument cluster for several seconds. Concurrently, the Master warning light (
) and the specific Intelligent Speed Limit Assist warning light
(
) will illuminate.
If these indicators persist, please have your Kia Carnival inspected by an authorized Kia dealer to ensure your
safety systems are restored to full functionality.
A: Driver Assistance system limited. Camera obscured.
When the windshield area housing the front-view camera of your Kia Carnival is obstructed by foreign material—such as
heavy snow, road grime, or rainfall—the system's detection capability may be compromised. This can temporarily limit
or completely disable the Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) function. If this occurs, a warning message and the
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist warning light (
) will illuminate on your instrument cluster.
The Intelligent Speed Limit Assist system is designed to resume normal operation once the obstructions are cleared
and the sensors have a clear view. Please ensure the windshield is kept clean in the camera area. If the ISLA system
fails to operate correctly after the obstruction is removed, we recommend having your Kia Carnival inspected by an
authorized Kia dealer.
WARNING
-
Please note that even in the absence of a specific warning message or light on the cluster, the Intelligent
Speed Limit Assist may not operate correctly if the environment or camera lens is compromised.
-
If you restart your Kia Carnival while the sensors remain blocked or in a malfunction state, the system may
remain unavailable, as it prioritizes safety by maintaining the disabled status until the obstruction is
resolved.
NOTICE
You can verify detailed system status information or error codes by checking the service messages within the utility
information view of your Kia Carnival instrument cluster display window.
The Intelligent Speed Limit Assist system in your Kia Carnival is a sophisticated aid, but it may experience
limitations or provide unexpected information under certain real-world conditions, including:
-
Road sign contamination or visibility issues:
-
Signs that are difficult to discern due to adverse weather such as heavy rain, dense fog, or thick snow.
-
Signs partially obstructed by physical surroundings, such as overhanging branches or deep shadows.
-
Non-standard road signage:
-
Signs with text or imagery that deviates from standard regional traffic regulations.
-
Signs installed in complex junctions between main lines and exit roads, or at ambiguous diverging points.
-
Temporary signs attached to mobile machinery, such as construction trucks.
-
Environmental and operational factors:
-
Large distances between the Kia Carnival and the actual road signs.
-
Illuminated or electronic road signs that may cause camera flare.
-
Incorrect recognition of street numbers or imagery as speed limit values.
-
Detection of signs belonging to adjacent, non-target roads.
-
Multiple signs clustered too closely for accurate individual detection.
-
Misidentification of minimum speed limit signs or the presence of minimum speed requirements on the road
surface.
-
Rapid changes in lighting intensity, such as entering/exiting tunnels or driving under bridges.
-
Nighttime operation with insufficient headlamp output.
-
Direct sun glare obstructing the front-view camera field of view.
-
Reflections from sunlight, streetlights, or oncoming headlamps affecting sign legibility.
-
Navigation and road conditions:
-
Errors in GPS or map navigation data.
-
Driver deviation from recommended navigation routes.
-
Driving on sharply curved, continuously winding, or steeply inclined roads.
-
Driving over severe speed bumps or experiencing heavy vehicle shaking.
-
Navigating newly constructed roads or zones not yet reflected in the system database.
-
Ongoing navigation software updates occurring during active driving.
WARNING
-
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist is intended as a supplemental convenience function. It does not replace the
necessity for full driver attention.
-
The driver always retains the ultimate responsibility to obey all posted speed limits, regardless of system
input.
-
Be aware that the system may require up to 15 seconds after starting your Kia Carnival, or after the front-view
camera is initialized, to become fully operational.

front-view camera, please refer to the "More Details" section of your owner's manual.
