To begin, pull the primary interior hood release lever located under the dashboard. You will hear and feel the hood pop up slightly as it disengages from the primary latch.
WARNING
Before proceeding, always ensure the Kia Carnival is parked on a level surface, the transmission is set to P (Park), and the parking brake is fully engaged.
Walk to the front of the Kia Carnival. Slightly lift the hood to expose the secondary safety release lever (1), push it upward, and then lift the hood (2) fully to open.
If the hood is not fully closed while the vehicle is active, a warning message will appear on the Kia Carnival instrument cluster display.
Furthermore, an audible warning chime will sound if the vehicle is driven at speeds of 2 mph (3 km/h) or higher while the hood is detected as unlatched.
