For your convenience, you can manage the locking status of your Kia Carnival from within the cabin using the interior
door handle or the master central door lock switch located on the driver's side door panel.
With the door handle
-
Front doors: If you pull the interior door handle while the door is locked, the Kia Carnival
door will automatically unlock and open in one fluid motion.
Safety Note: For your security, the front doors of your Kia Carnival cannot be locked using the door
handle button if the smart key is detected inside the vehicle while the door is open.
Door lock malfunction procedures
If a power door lock fails to respond while you are inside the vehicle, please utilize the following emergency exit
techniques:
-
Operate the door unlock feature repeatedly—switching between electronic controls and manual toggles—while
simultaneously pulling on the door handle.
-
Attempt to operate the door locks and handles on alternative doors (front and rear) to identify if the issue is
isolated.
-
If safe, lower a front window and use your mechanical key to unlock the door from the outside.
-
If necessary, transition to the cargo area and manually release the liftgate.
WARNING
Do not pull the interior door handle of the driver's or passenger's door while the Kia Carnival is in motion, as this
may cause the door to open unexpectedly.

accidents.
NOTICE
Leaving your Kia Carnival unlocked significantly increases the risk of theft. Always power off the vehicle, engage
the parking brake, and confirm all doors are locked before leaving it unattended.
WARNING
Never leave children, the elderly, or pets unattended in your Kia Carnival. Enclosed vehicles can reach lethal
temperatures rapidly. Furthermore, children left alone may accidentally engage vehicle controls, leading to injury.
Your Kia Carnival should always be clear of vulnerable occupants when you are away.
