Limitations of the System

  • The Digital Key 2 system in your Kia Carnival may experience operational limitations under the following circumstances:

    • The battery of your smartphone or the vehicle’s main battery is fully discharged.

    • NFC or Bluetooth functionality is disabled in your smartphone's system settings.

    • The signal is obstructed by credit cards placed directly behind your smartphone, or by an excessively thick or metallic phone case.

    • The NFC card key is stored in a wallet or cardholder alongside other RFID/NFC-enabled cards, which can cause signal conflicts.

    • Electromagnetic interference is present due to proximity to other vehicles, high-voltage equipment, or specific environmental conditions.

    • If your smartphone is equipped with a metallic cover or external communication accessory, it may disrupt the NFC connection. If the Digital Key 2 fails to operate, remove any such accessories and attempt the connection again.

  • Vehicle control via smartphone may be temporarily limited if:

    • The smartphone is prioritizing other high-demand tasks, such as an active voice call, urgent emergency communications, or processing a contactless payment.

    • You are using a wireless headset or earphone for audio/calls, which may occasionally interrupt the handshake between your phone and the Kia Carnival.

    • The Digital Key 2 app is being restricted by your smartphone manufacturer's aggressive power-saving policies or application launch priority settings.
